Ian didnât miss the surprise on Norahâs face when he all but strip-teased on the stage. Performing wasnât something he was a stranger to. In college, in order to make ends meet, he had worked at a strip club. He never told his family. It was a secret he kept from everyone in his life. He could have easily asked his parents for money to help cover the bills, but he wanted to do it himself. Having a little independence from them was something he felt he needed to do to challenge himself. He wanted to prove he could do it on his ownâto know he didnât need to rely on them to survive.
One day someone had joked about him having the body of a stripper, and it implanted an idea. He didnât do it for long, but he did it long enough to learn the moves that made women go wild.
The announcer hopped onto the stage as the music died down. He had paid no attention to his competitors, but based on the way the women were trying to grab at him, he suspected he had this in the bag.
âWow! Quite a performance, am I right?â The crowd screamed.
âI think we have a clear winner, but letâs go through this the proper way, so there are no disputes.â
Ian was the third person, so he would be the last to be called. He glanced over at Norah, who was currently chugging a drink. He raised an eyebrow at her and she nearly choked on the alcohol, a good portion of it dribbling out of her mouth and down the front of her dress.
He chuckled as he watched her quickly pat herself dry with napkins. Before he knew it, the announcer was standing in front of him.
âContestant number three!â
The crowd cheered deafeningly loud. Even Norah hopped up onto her feet and screamed and jumped around.
âLadies and gentlemen, we have a clear winner. Contestant number three has won the voucher for him and one other guest! Sir, whatâs your name?â
The announcer held the microphone up to Ianâs lips.
âIan.â
âDo you know who youâre going to take to this all-expense-paid dinner?â
Ian looked straight at Norah. âI believe I do.â
âCongratulations! Here is your certificate. Youâre welcome to take your gear off backstage and take a seat. Thank you to everyone who took part in this challenge. We now have a challenge for the women. Women! Please join us on stage!â
Ian went behind the curtain and handed over the Santa gear before pulling his own shirt back on and slipping back out into the crowd, heading toward his table. Several women winked at him on his way by, but he only had his focus on one woman. One woman he never knew heâd be interested in. He sat down next to Norah and gave her a slow smile.
âCongratulations,â she said. Her cheeks were flushed, and he half wondered how many drinks she had downed while he was gone.
âThank you. Now, are you going to join me
